Apple reportedly promoting iOS 15 to iOS 14 users ahead of official release

Just in time for the official rollout due in four days’ time after the iPhone 13 California streaming event, Apple has reportedly started promoting iOS 15 to users on iOS 14. Federico Viticci of MacStories discovered it in the Software Update section of his iPhone today. As you can see in the tweet below, inside the Software Update screen, right on top appears a “See What’s Coming in iOS 15” banner.

The Learn More button as per Viticci takes the user to the Tips app to showcase iOS 15 and all of its new features and improvements. With that said, we feel this move on Apple’s part is to ultimately encourage and push its users to try iOS 15 even though the company has given users the option to stay on iOS 14 forever.

Interesting, I don’t think I’ve ever seen this before:

Apple is advertising what’s coming in iOS 15 inside the Software Update screen on iOS 14 devices. Clicking the link takes you to a collection inside the Tips app. pic.twitter.com/j3U2iiACt8

Notice the iOS 15 Public Beta 8 installation preparing? Yes, we thought about it and feel the iOS 15 promotion banner appears in the Software Update section only on iOS 14 devices that have the iOS 15 Beta profile installed.

Going by the comments on the tweet, some users (who weren’t using the iOS 15 Beta) have received a notification directly from the Tips app, and nothing yet for some.

Anyways, we hope Apple limits this promotion game to software updates only and does not venture into advertising its newly launched products or offers associated with the same all over iOS. Yeah, we could name some brands here but we chose not to for the good. Thank you for reading!
