At the Peak Performance Event on Tuesday, Apple introduced the iPhone SE 3. The design of the smartphone remains the same once again since the iPhone 8 and iPhone SE 2. Apart from the same design, there are a few upgrades to boot.
This year Apple brings in 5G connectivity to the iPhone SE. Also, the iPhone SE 3 brings the Apple A15 Bionic chipset for blazing past performance. That’s about the changes in the new iPhone SE 3. The rest of the specs is pretty much the same as the 2020 iPhone SE.
Display and design
The familiar 4.7” IPS LCD display sits at the front of the iPhone SE 3. Pixel density and resolution date back to the iPhone 6 of the past decade. True Tone for optimum white balance and wide color gamut for better colors is here as usual.
Below the display is the great old Touch ID equipped home button for biometric authentication. Now, did we expect Face ID this year? Not really considering the price in check.

Continuing with the design, we have got the same old rounded aluminum frame we have been seeing since the iPhone 6. At the back, a single camera and a centered Apple logo conclude the design. Speaking of which, Ceramic Shield glass from iPhone 13 is here both at the front and the back for advanced protection.
Performance, Storage, and battery
The latest A15 Bionic chipset makes its way to the 3rd generation iPhone SE. This is the same chipset that’s present In the iPhone 13 series. For sure Apple has upped the capability and efficiency but what good if the battery backup is mediocre.
It looks like Apple has retained the same meager 1821 mAh unit in the iPhone SE 3. We wonder how will puny battery handle demanding tasks and 5G connectivity over years to come.
Storage starts at 64GB with 128GB and 256GB variants available. As for the memory, 3GB RAM is unassuming at this point.
Camera
Unsurprisingly, the 12MP unit is carried over from the previous generation but with enhancements computational improvements courtesy of the A15 Bionic. Quite annoyingly, the 7MP selfie camera is still here. Apple could have given us a Centre Stage capable 12MP camera in 2022.
Price, availability, and colors

The base variant of the 2022 iPhone SE starts at $429 which makes it $30 more expensive than the outgoing model. As for the availability, pre-orders begin this Friday, and sales are set to commence on March 18.
The iPhone SE 3 comes in Midnight, Starlight, and Product (RED) finishes.
